Suminoe Art Beat takes place in Kitakagaya, an artsy area of Suminoe Ward, and it’s described as “an art festival in an art town.” The main venue is the Creative Center Osaka, built on the former site of the Nakamura Shipyard, so you get to enjoy art in a cool industrial setting. The lineup is packed with fun stuff: giant rubber duck installations, video screenings, exhibitions by young artists, and a food-and-farm-art market called the “Kitakagaya Minna no Uen Festival.” There’s also a food and kids’ area, so it’s great for families. Shitennoji Wasso Festival
For those who love East Asian history and culture, this Korean-related event in Osaka is an absolute must-see. Every November, the city throws a spectacular party that brings 1,400 years of international friendship back to life: Shitennoji Wasso Festival, a vibrant festival held at the site of the ancient Naniwa Palace. Long ago, this area was Japan’s gateway to East Asia, welcoming envoys from Korean kingdoms like Baekje, Silla, and Goguryeo who brought culture, technology, and new ideas. The day kicks off with a pre-stage featuring K-pop cover dances, Korean traditional performing arts, brass band music, dance baton, and Japanese taiko drums. After the opening ceremony, Part 1 recreates ancient exchanges through scenes from the Mythical Era, Kofun Period, Asuka Period, and Nara Period, plus a Korean Dynasty dance performance and a peace declaration. Part 2 shifts to modern international exchange with Awa Odori dancing, more K-pop performances, and a lively closing taiko drum show. The word “Wasso” itself means “came” in Korean, a cheerful shout that echoes through the procession. It’s a free, family-friendly event with food stalls and activities for kids, making it a wonderful way to spend an autumn day in Osaka.

Expo Night Sky Becomes Art Day
For those who love jaw-dropping spectacles and unforgettable nights, this is the crown jewel of Osaka’s November events. Expo Night Sky Becomes Art Day returns for its 5th anniversary, turning the night sky above Expo ’70 Commemorative Park into a giant canvas of light and sound. Around 15,000 fireworks, the largest scale in the Kansai region, are launched in perfect sync with music, creating a massive “wall of fireworks” that completely fills your field of vision. But that’s not all: cutting-edge 3D drone art joins the show, painting glowing sculptures in the sky that blend with the fireworks for a mystical, open-air gallery experience.
Before the main event, you can also enjoy the Hokusetsu Cultural Festival and Ramen EXPO starting at 11:00 am at the park’s Festival Plaza, sampling regional ramen and enjoying stage performances. And the food is a whole event on its own! The gourmet lineup brings together popular Kansai shops and international flavors, so you can munch while you watch. Expect treats like baby castella, kebabs, venison tacos, mapo tofu, grilled tuna, gyoza, Cajun chicken, Omi beef mixed noodles, cheese hotteok, Akashiyaki, beef tongue, black truffle beef sandwiches, and even grilled wagyu horumon yakisoba. It’s the perfect way to enjoy a special night under the fireworks. Note that this is a fully ticketed, reserved-seat event with no free viewing, so grab your tickets early. The show goes on rain or shine, but may be cancelled in severe weather.

Ramen Expo
For those who love ramen and can’t get enough of Japan’s noodle culture, this is your dream come true. Ramen EXPO is one of the biggest ramen events in western Japan, and it brings together the best local ramen shops from all over the country. Each “round” features 10 carefully selected ramen shops, and across the whole event a total of 60 shops gather at Expo Commemorative Park. You can slurp your way through regional specialties from Hokkaido to Kyushu, all in one place. Just to be clear: the event does not run every day for the whole month, it’s held only on selected days (round), so check the dates here before you plan your visit. It’s a casual, outdoor festival with a lively atmosphere, perfect for a fun day out with friends or family. One important heads-up: on the first day, November 21st, the event closes early at 16:00 because of the Expo Night Sky Becomes Art fireworks event. It then reopens from 22:00 (last order 21:30), but during that evening slot the fireworks organizers have the venue booked exclusively, so only people with fireworks tickets can enter. If you don’t have a fireworks ticket, plan your ramen visit for another day.

Shinno Festival
For those who love traditional Japanese festivals with deep history and a bit of old-Osaka charm, this is the perfect way to close out November. Shinno Festival is held at Sukunahikona Shrine (Shinno-san) in central Osaka, and it’s famously known as the “closing festival” of Osaka, there’s even a saying: “Osaka’s festivals begin with Ebessan and end with Shinno-san.” The festival dates back to 1822, when a cholera outbreak hit Osaka and pharmacists created a special medicine, distributing it along with papier-maché tiger charms (hariko no tora) to pray for recovery. Nowadays, you can receive it attached to a five-leaf bamboo branch and a shrine talisman, believed to protect your household and keep you healthy.
It’s a beloved local tradition and is officially designated as an Osaka City Intangible Cultural Property and is distributed from 9:00 to 16:30. It gets quite crowded, especially between 14:00 and 15:00, so if you want a calmer visit, try going after 16:00. Also, note that entry to the shrine grounds is briefly restricted around 9:45 on the 22nd for an official photo. If you’d like to take home an amulet or talisman as a souvenir, you can check what’s available on their official guide page. And here’s a lovely bonus for pet owners: Dosho-machi, the neighborhood where the shrine sits, is home to many pet-related companies, and the shrine’s guardian tiger is itself an animal, so it has become a popular spot for praying for pets’ health. You can even bring your pet to visit (just hold them close when it’s crowded), and the shrine offers pet prayers for illness recovery, health, safe birth, and more for ¥10,000, plus pet-specific ema plaques and charms.

Midosuji Runway
Do you love fashion, music, and big-city energy? This is one of Osaka’s coolest autumn events. Midosuji Runway turns Osaka’s most iconic street, Midosuji, into a giant open-air runway and entertainment stage for one day only. The whole road shuts down to traffic, and instead of cars, you’ll see music performances, entertainment acts, and one-of-a-kind shows you won’t find anywhere else. It’s all about showing off Osaka’s unique charm to the world as a fun, exciting “entertainment city.” The best part? There’s no advance lottery or ticket needed this year. Anyone can just show up and watch for free. Just a heads-up: bring a raincoat instead of an umbrella if it rains, don’t bring folding chairs or picnic sheets, and be ready to sit down when watching from the main street. Also, come by train or subway, since driving is not recommended and the area gets super crowded.
