Yu is Japanese-Venezuelan and originally from Washington, DC. After growing up spending summers in southern Japan with his family, he moved here full-time several years ago to further his training and education as a Buddhist priest. Before entering the priesthood, he worked in the legislative branch of government and as an action-sports/event photographer. He became a tour guide due to his passion for and desire to share Japanese food and culture and new experiences with others.
