On December 1, the Omotenashi Selection was announced. This selection is made to reflect the spirit and excellence of Japanese hospitality (‘Omotenashi’ in Japanese). It is exclusively given to products and services that show the unique charms of Japan that should be shared with the world, and, as such, is a prestigious award that any company would be happy to receive.
Omotenashi selection is always looking for the greatest Japanese products and services. Having started in 2015, they have been sharing these special products and experiences for 8 years to help local manufacturers reach an international audience.
The winners are chosen through inspections from international residents of Japan. There are 2 selection criteria: omotenashi and global. The former is to see if the product or service shows thoughtfulness and care for the user, while the latter is to measure the appeal to non-Japanese people.
The selection consists of 146 products and services (including 33 Gold Awards and nine Special Awards from a total of six categories). The six categories are: Japan Post Online Shop Award, ANA award, Special Awards by OMOTENASHI NIPPON Executive Committee Judges’ Choice Award (Asia), Judges‘ Choice Award (Europe & North America), Regional Development Award, and Sustainability Award. They are all listed below, so please take the time to see them all.
