What better time to enjoy instant ramen than the Fall season?
As the leaves dramatically change colors and the temperatures drop, instant ramen calls! Here are 5 delish Japanese instant ramen to enjoy for the Fall season.
All of these are the better quality, “premium” instant ramen – only found in Japan! You can also buy them HERE.
Silky Chicken Ramen
On most websites in Japan, ramen shop Iida Shoten is ranked no. 1. This is in the whole country! Located in Yugawara, Kanagawa (south of Tokyo), they’re reservation only and openings aren’t easy to come by.
So it’s comforting to know that they sell their own instant ramen. It’s outstanding. Just like in their signature ramen, a shoyu (soy sauce) seasoning holds up a gorgeous chicken-centered soup. This might be the best light instant chicken ramen on the market.
Sweet White Miso Ramen
The snowy city of Sapporo is synonymous with miso ramen. Furthermore, Shingen is one of the most famous shops in Sapporo to serve it.
Shingen’s top seller is a carefully crafted white miso ramen. This instant ramen is based on it. The soup is quite hearty. But the sweet white miso brightly shines through it. The thick, wavy noodles are a treat – just like in Sapporo!
Garlicky Classic Ramen
The English word “stamina” is often used to describe heavier Japanese dishes with garlic or ginger. This instant “Stamina Chuukasoba” has both garlic and ginger in the soup!
The soup is also supported by a bold shoyu (soy sauce). All together, this makes for a punchy soup that’s meant to give you “stamina”. In terms of toppings, there are seasoned pieces of pork and crunchy cabbage.
Creamy and Spicy Tantanmen
This one celebrates 20 years of excellence for the instant ramen “Raoh” brand. Raoh is produced by noodle maker heavyweight Nissin. Given the milestone, you know they’d be doing something special.
This 20th anniversary tantanmen (a spicy style of ramen) features a “noukou” soup. This in Japanese word basically means rich. The soup is indeed rich. But it’s well balanced, with sparks from chili oil and a smooth flavor from sesame paste. In short, Nissin (Raoh) delivered.
Rich and Thick Pork Bone Ramen
Just like Iida Shoten (entry no. 1), Tomita is considered one of Japan’s best ramen shops. It has in fact often traded places with Iida Shoten for that coveted no. 1 spot.
Tomita’s ramen couldn’t be more different though. They’re known for a thick and supremely rich soup. That’s what you get with this instant ramen, via pork bones. But a powerful shoyu seasoning gives the soup some tanginess, sweetness, and its color.
