Washoku is the traditional cuisine of Japan. It comes from the root “Wa” meaning harmony, the theme in the preparation and presentation of any washoku dish.

In this class you will learn the basics including its history and modern perspectives, selection and preparation of ingredients, how to cook it of course and basic Japanese etiquette before enjoying the meal.

Every washoku meal is comprised of one main dish of fish or meat, miso soup and 2 complimentary side dishes.

Washoku was recently designated by the United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) as an Intangible Cultural Heritage for its diversity and freshness of ingredients, exceptional balance, expression of natural beauty and close links with annual Japanese events.
